As the water in the lower chamber heats, the pressure from boiling forces the water up through the ground coffee. A few minutes later, espresso will emerge from then spout into the upper chamber. Simply remove the Espresso Maker from the stove and let it stand unti the lower chamber is releasing steam only.

The stovetop Espresso Coffee Maker is dishwasher safe and has a capacity of 9 cups (based on 1.5 ounce cups).
