ABOUT CHEF JENNIE
Chef Jennie Silk has always been surrounded by food, and it was no surprise when she left University behind to pursue a degree in Culinary Arts at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Jennie left Ontario after completing her degree in search of new experiences and, most of all, new flavours.
Vancouver provided the playground she desired to explore world cuisine. The endless array of possibilities fed her creativity and
pushed her need for food knowledge.
After settling in White Rock with her husband, Jennie ran a successful catering business for many years while raising her daughter. When it was time to return to the workforce, she took a part-time position at Uli's Restaurant. Since that October day in
2008, Jennie moved into the roles of Sous Chef, Chef, AGM and now plays the role of General Manager. Her love of food and hospitality is contagious, and she is often overheard explaining that her job is to "buy the best product we can, do very little to it and serve it to you honestly." Jennie's firm stand on local product, sustainable practices in farming and fishing, along with her fierce inclination to support neighbourhood artisans, has become a mantra for her staff and guests.
